The revamped perk system of MW3 presents you with myriad gear combinations that give you a leg up over the enemy team in each match. Naturally, several of these pieces of equipment correspond with a classic perk, like the Gunner Vest and Quick-Grip Gloves, which represent Overkill and Fast Hands, respectively. However, one pair of shoes has now dominated the game’s current meta due to the ninja-like Dead Silence movement it gives you: the Covert Sneakers.
With the game’s beta period now well underway ahead of the Modern Warfare 3 release date, players have been able to try out many of the new features set to be included in its full launch. Of course, this consists of a collection of MW3 maps and the best perks in MW3, even more of which were added during the pre-release phase’s second weekend.
Unsurprisingly, hardcore CoD fans have now dubbed the Covert Sneakers the best gear in the game following its second-weekend introduction, as these boots give you the all-important Dead Silence perk. This is further evidenced by many of the comments under one specific Reddit post praising these sick MW3 kicks and the valuable ability they give you. “It’s so nice to run around without getting sound-whored from [the] other side of the map,” said phazma10.
“Yeah, as someone who mainly plays [Search & Destroy], Dead Silence is a must,” replied CakieFickflip. “The whole point of rushing/flanking is the risk/reward. If the other team [neglects] to watch a lane, you get behind them and into a superior position.” In addition, particular gear, like the Bone Conduction Headset, enables players to identify enemy movement and gunshots much better, so Covert Sneakers become even more critical in specific scenarios.
Keep in mind, though, that in order to use the Covert Sneakers, you will have to reach level 27 first. As soon as you do, you’ll be able to equip it in your loadout’s Boots slot, giving you a sound advantage over any enemy you face in a match.
