You might be wondering if the Minecraft Legends ‘New Zealand trick’ is going to work.
For those who don’t know, the New Zealand trick is when you change the time zone of your device to that of New Zealand. The Australasia time-zone if far ahead of that of the rest of the world, and it is often the case that games are launched at specific times for each region. We saw this attempted with Modern Warfare 2, which resulted in various issues, and similarly with Diablo 4’s Beta. It didn’t work with either of those two games, so will it work with Minecraft Legends?
Minecraft Legends ‘New Zealand trick’ – will it work?
The launch of MW2 saw a large “amount of Xbox users moving to New Zealand,” as a satirical tweet noted. The launch of Minecraft Legends could see a similar possibility – so let’s figure out if it’s going to work.
At the time of writing – it doesn’t seem as though the New Zealand trick is going to work. Recent game launches have proven that developers are catching onto the trick, and that they’ve implemented safety measures to prevent it. This means that you’re not going to be able to use the NZ trick with Minecraft Legends.
Can you play Minecraft Legends early?
There is no way to play Minecraft Legends early, unfortunately. No open or closed beta, no playtests, alphas, or sneaky tricks to get into the world of Minecraft before everyone else. However, with a release time not too far away at all, you won’t really have to wait all that long.
Everyone (who has purchased) will be able to play the game at the same time, which we think is completely fair. However, we understand that many of you may be disappointed with this outcome. The inclusion of crossplay and co-op means that as soon as you do finally get onto the game, you’re going to be having plenty of fun with your friends.
