This has arguably been the best year for video games ever. There’s been Baldur’s Gate 3, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake 2, Hogwarts Legacy, Breath of the Wild 2, and so many more games. There hasn’t been a new Soulslike by FromSoftware, but even Dark Souls fans have had their quench for death satisfied by Lies of P and Lords of the Fallen. The Pinocchio nightmare is especially one of the best experiences to come out this year, and its director has now announced a Lies of P sequel and DLC through a taped thank you letter.

In our Lies of P review, we praised the game for its strongly immersive setting and its excellent combat and boss battles. If you own an Xbox or play on PC, you can experience the game for free if you are a Game Pass subscriber. And, even if you’re not a fan of the Soulsborne genre, it’s definitely worth trying as just soaking in the atmosphere for a few hours is an enthralling experience.

Unlike most games that try to copy Dark Souls too much, Lies of P is a game that is obviously heavily included by FromSoftware but still manages to have its own unique identity. It has gathered a huge following, and we’re glad to hear that a sequel and DLC are in development.

Lies of P announces DLC and sequel

Lies of P director, Ji Won Choi, filmed a Director’s Letter thanking the community for their support. In the message, he reveals that the game has surpassed one million copies in sales since last October. He thanks everyone for their love and support, and he expresses his sincerest gratitude for fans making the game an overwhelming success. As a gift from the bottom of his heart, the director announces that DLC and sequel are in development.

The director says that the ‘dev team is putting in significant effort, brainstorming and exploring different aspects of the projects’. So, in short, don’t expect the DLC and especially the sequel anytime soon. However, in the immediate future, there are free patches to anticipate. This includes a weapon balance update for November and the addition of the Rising Dodge ability as a default skill to make the game’s early stages a little easier. The November update will also allow players to don the Aldiro costume with dog mask included. And, as if all this wasn’t enough, the update will allow Pinocchio to wear hats and glasses at the same time so you can be extra fashionable.
