Rolling Stone blog, Rock & Roll Daily reports that Jimi Hendrix is finally coming to Activision’s Guitar Hero franchise.

According to Janie Hendrix, who oversees the late star’s estate, there had been difficulties tracking down original master recordings, but a selection of songs – including Purple Haze, Foxy Lady and Little Wing – have now been sent to the Guitar Hero developers.

“Guitar Hero really was on the ball and they were biting at the bit to get this out this year, so, we just accommodated them,” Janie Hendrix told Rolling Stone. “Jimi was a kid at heart he definitely would have played these games.”

Activision has also been given authorisation for an official Jimi Hendrix Guitar Hero avatar.

Guitar Hero: World Tour is scheduled for release this autumn.
