The It Takes Two movie is going ahead at Amazon with none other than Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson attached to the project.

That’s according to Variety, who’ve broken both pieces of news last night. They say that the project is now a ‘priority development’ for the streamer and dj2 Entertainment with Seven Bucks Productions. The latter have newly joined the project, and are bringing company leads Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia to produce.

Adaptation duties are being helmed by Sonic the Hedgehog (and its sequel) scribes Pat Casey and Josh Miller. Variety also claim from their sources that Johnson could also take a starring role in the film. However, casting has not yet been finalised, and as such this extra nugget is subject to change.

Still, there’s some very impressive names attached behind the scenes on the It Takes Two movie already. Plus, with Hazelight’s own Josef Fares and Oskar Wolontis also executive producing it should remain pretty faithful to the games. Rather ironic then, that the man who once said “f*** the Oscars” could be up for one in the future. We’ll have to wait and see.

It Takes Two launched on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC just over a year ago, and has done very well since. Earlier this month, the co-op game even picked up the Multiplayer and Original Property gongs at this year’s BAFTA Game Awards.
