Housemarque’s Returnal was the big winner at this year’s 2022 BAFTA Game Awards, taking home four trophies including Best Game.

The sci-fi shooter also cleaned up in the audio categories, taking home prizes in Audio Achievement & Music at the event. Jane Perry also won the Performer in a Leading Role award for her portrayal of the game’s hero Selene. It also wasn’t the only PlayStation exclusive to take home multiple trophies last night either. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart also went away with Animation & Technical Achievement prizes.

Elsewhere, it was also a pretty good showing for Unpacking, which picked up best Narrative & the fan-voted EE Game of the Year trophies. Surprisingly It Takes Two, which was nominated for a whopping eight awards, ‘only’ went home with two on the night. Studio head Josef Fares was on hand to collect prizes for Multiplayer and Original Property.

Bethesda’s Deathloop, up for five awards, criminally didn’t take home any in a tough field. Forza Horizon 5 managed to nab the British Game gong, while Inscryption won the Game Design prize. Meanwhile Kimberly Brooks won Performer in a Supporting Role for her work in Psychonauts 2.
