Ascendant Studios and EA have now provided a new Immortals of Aveum trailer showcasing more of the upcoming FPS entry’s exciting magic-based action and breathtaking environmental designs “that defy FPS conventions.”

Although details on Immortals of Aveum’s plot, gameplay, and release date had already been revealed through previously provided clips, this latest snippet gives us an even better look at its sophisticated combat design that players will be able to experience at launch. Throughout the story, players will take on the role of a capable protagonist named Jak that can control three different types of magic using a powerful device called a Sigil.

The first type is controlled using a Red Sigil and this category focuses on powerful, close quarters attacks that can obliterate groups of enemies with a mere flick of the wrist. Next, Blue Sigils are used to manipulate magic into lethal, long-ranged bolts that can quickly snipe out enemies on the back lines. Finally, Green Sigils give Jak the ability to “cast rapid-fire homing projectiles” that’ll allow you to quickly move around the area while dishing out a deadly dose of devastation.

In addition to the standard spells you can cast, the trailer also gave us a look at Fury spells, which are more destructive abilities that require you to spend precious mana in order to use them. Luckily, there will be mana crystals scattered through the game that you’ll be able to spend to replenish your main resource. Other types of magic, such as Augment and Control spells were also put on full display, with the former enabling you to influence objects throughout the world while the latter simply makes managing hordes of enemies easier.

Towards the latter portion of the preview, the developers also revealed that there’ll be at least “25 different spells, over 80 different talents,” and a plethora of unique gear for you to unlock during your adventure. With this in mind, there should be plenty of content to go around for those willing to spend their time exploring all that Immortals of Aveum has to offer.
