The release for Immortals of Aveum, the upcoming magic-based FPS game from EA and Ascendant Studios, is reportedly going to be delayed for “a few extra weeks,” according to a statement from game director Bret Robbins and the development team. This postponement will apparently give them the time they need “to further polish the game, finish optimizing all platforms, and deliver a strong launch.”

In the same message, Robbins would also note that this is their “first game as a self-funded independent studio,” hence their desire to deliver a masterful product to their loyal fan base. “The recent feedback to the game proves to us what we already felt: that Immortals of Aveum is something special. We owe it to ourselves and to you to get this right,” he continued.

Unsurprisingly, community reaction surrounding this announcement has largely been positive as most fans are telling the development team to “take all the time you need.” One user also mentioned that “you only get one chance at a first impression,” so it’s important that you “make it count!” This sentiment especially rings true for Ascendant Studios as this will be their first release since the team’s inception.

Based on the latter portion of the statement, the new Immortals of Aveum release date is now apparently slated for August 22, which is more than a month out from the original launch window of July 20. Obviously, this isn’t an ideal situation for the community as many had been eagerly waiting to get their hands on this visually stunning FPS entry. But, the improvements that the developers plan on making should at least make this game much better and more memorable than it was originally going to be.

While you wait for the game to launch, we suggest checking out some of the brilliantly crafted gameplay trailers to hold you over for now.
