The Witcher 3 has received a free update that improves its foundations as it looks to take advantage of current-gen console capabilities. Unfortunately, it has been anything but smooth sailing due to the large amount of issues that have plagued it since its release.

Drastic frame-rate drops and permanent toxicity debuffs are just some of the recurring glitches being faced by the community. Because of this, many have decided to roll back their current version of The Witcher 3 in order to have a less frustrating experience. If you want to know how you can roll back your version of the game as well, then you’ve come to the right place.

Here’s how you can revert your current game’s version to avoid the endless barrage of bugs.

How to Roll Back The Witcher 3 Next Gen PC Update on Steam

In order to revert The Witcher 3 on Steam to the earlier version 1.32, you’ll simply need to go through the following steps:

  1. Head to your Steam Library and look for The Witcher 3 game.
  2. Right-click on the game and select Properties.
  3. Select the Beta category on the pop-up window.
  4. Choose the Classic option from the dropdown menu.

This will then allow you to play the previous and much more stable edition of CD Projekt Red’s popular title.

How to Roll Back The Witcher 3 Next Gen PC Update on GOG

If you purchased the game on GOG instead, you’ll need to go through these different steps to roll it back:

  1. On the GOG Galaxy platform, select the Owned games category to pull up your library.
  2. Right-click on The Witcher 3 and choose Manage Installation.
  3. Click on Configure.
  4. Under the Installation tab, deselect the Auto-Updates option.
  5. Finally, choose the Classic version and click OK.

Even though this is a return to the much older version 1.32, its smooth playthrough is much more preferable to the current stuttering mess. CD Projekt Red is most likely preparing fixes for these issues already so users will hopefully be able to play it the way it was meant to be played.
