Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (MW2) has been out for several months now – bringing with it hours of entertainment in the form of exhilarating multiplayer.

Mastering MW2’s multiplayer is no easy task. You’ll need to equip yourself with the best perks, equipment, and weapons if you’re to stand any chance of survival.

You’ll also need to get to grips with one of the core gameplay mechanics in the game – leaning. This is where we come in. Here’s how to lean in Modern Warfare 2.

How To Lean In MW2

Leaning in MW2 is simple. First off, you simply click down on the right thumbstick if you’re using a controller, or whatever you have assigned as the melee button if you’re using mouse and keyboard.

The leaning maneuver comes in handy when you’re facing large expanses where there is little cover. It is always worth leaning first to get a lay of the land before making a move.

It’s also far more accurate than running in and hip firing, which is tempting for those who use Rusher classes armed with SMGs. Note, if you have a laser box equipment and lean in MW2, the enemy will still see your laser, which can give away your position.

To maximize accuracy and minimize your exposure to enemy fire in MW2, press the crouch button when you’re leaning to adopt an aimed crouch position.

To wall mount, all you need to do is go against the surface, and you’ll be promoted by an in-game message to mount your weapon against it.

This improves accuracy whilst also making you a harder target to hit – be warned though, well placed snipers will still be able to headshot you. Your peripheral vision will be slightly impaired in this mounted position – so you’ll be vulnerable from attacks from behind and your flanks. We recommend not staying in one position for too long, and regularly covering your flanks.

Leaning in MW2 works best when you are using mid-range weapons, like the M4, that perhaps need extra stabilization for longer shots. You can check out our best M4 loadout right here.

As per Modern Warfare (2019), you’re also able to customise this setting to your liking, just head to Weapon Mount Activation in settings.
