Despite Helldivers 2 only being two months old, many players have already reached the current level cap of 50. The cap will likely be increased over time to give veteran players something new to work toward, but for now once you hit max level you don’t have much to aim for except the joy of bringing Democracy.

One major downside of Helldivers 2 is that it has a rather toxic community, with many players kicking others for not following the meta and even kicking low level players. This is frustrating as it can put new players off trying the game as they may feel intimidated and unwelcome, and many high level players forget that it was only a handful of weeks ago that they were a low level player.

This sentiment has been echoed on Reddit. In a post titled “An open letter from the SES Herald of Honour,” u/Shawberry19 details an altercation where a level 30 player bullied and refused to play with a level 5 player, going as far as saying “Kick him or I quit.” Thankfully, after being invited to leave, the level 30 player decided to leave the game and it turned out the level 5 player “held his own.”

U/Shawberry19 would go on to say “We were all level 5 once, trying out higher difficulties. Theres no reason to demand a lower level player to be kicked. It’s a damn video game. This isn’t some real life draftee who’s gonna get you killed 3 weeks before you ship out for home.” This is the attitude we need to see more of in the Helldivers 2 community if we want to continue to see the game thrive and grow, alienating players will only harm the game in the long run.

Since it’s release in February 2024, Helldivers 2 has gone on to sell over eight million copies as hundreds of thousands of Helldivers jump in to take down the Automatons and Terminids while facing the threat of The Illuminate.
