Meteor storms just dropped into Helldivers 2, making its missions even more of a test of might and teamwork. As a planetary hazard, it makes life difficult for Automaton and Terminid factions too. It turns out that these weather effects have been up to some good as well.

Players report witnessing a variety of hazards, from tremors to ion storms and meteors. Each of them has different effects and I found out the hard way when the eruption of tremors slowed my squad as Terminid hordes closed in. Ion storms delay stratagems and meteors… meteors are pretty.

Here’s what the meteor storms have been up to in Helldivers 2

User xDreeganx on Reddit shared Helldivers 2 footage of a meteor shower lashing at the ground right before him. Pale blue rocks leaving scratch marks on the sky were beautiful enough to make this Helldiver stop mid-mission. It didn’t take long for others to describe their experience with the phenomenon. The top comment from user Avorius gets to the point and asks ‘can these complete objectives for you?’ The answer, fortunately, is yes. But meteor showers don’t pick their targets.

Lancelot652 mentioned that a heavy hive was closed by a meteor storm without the intervention of their squad. And user StormShaun noted ‘They destroyed a couple of spore towers for me, which was amazing… until it hit a Hellbomb, then it was beautiful.’ Hellbombs are granted only during specific missions like clearing fuel silos. While it did infuriate some players, most of them found it hilarious. Others were knocked out by meteor storms and forced to use revives to stay functional. It currently kills Helldivers in a single shot so be wary of these surprises.

User mikeyx401 wasn’t too deterred as they warned players to ‘Look for the blue lights on the ground. It gives away the location where it will land.’ But other players noted that this wasn’t easy to do during the day. In conclusion, I agree with Lord_Yolo_Van_Swag on calling it the ‘380mm barrage she told you not to worry about.’ The new planetary hazards spice up missions with random effects that won’t necessarily pick a side. Just remember to account for them as you take down Automatons and Terminids.
