Helldivers 2 is set to become even bigger soon. Officially, all we know so far is that recruits from Microsoft are joining the battlefield thanks to the release on Xbox consoles. However, in addition to getting into bed with Microsoft, there has also been teases of a crossover with Halo. Now, in further addition, it seems we might be getting new enemies as a Helldivers 2 leak shows new Illuminate cultists summoned by even more new Illuminate.
Helldivers 2 leak shows new Illuminate summoned by more new Illuminate
On X, prominent Helldiver 2 leaker, Iron_S1ghts, has shared a “short showcase” of gameplay for “Ghoul cultists”. These Ghoul Cultists are “summoned by Zealots and Illusionists”. You can check out the gameplay on Iron_S1ghts’ X page or their YouTube channel.
Iron_S1ghts’ YouTube video description describes Ghouls as “the echoes of something long forgotten” and “Their eyes hold no life, only obedience to voices we cannot here”. The description asks, “Are they… slaves? Anomalies ripped apart and put back together by the void. Knowing nothing but pain and angst. Only abiding by the command of their masters”.
Basically, the video shows the Ghouls summoned to the battlefield, and they rush at the player. If you have played Mass Effect 2 and 3, they act like, and similarly resemble, the mindless grunts of the Reaper army, Husks.
Zealots and the Illusionist are new, too. Previously, Iron_S1ghts leaked Zealots as a powerful new cultsist that “can summon a wide range of Illuminate enemies”. It was also revealed that the Zealot’s “main weapon is a whip charged with some sort of ‘void’ energy”.
As for the Illusionist, this isn’t entirely new as they were part of the Illuminate in HD1, but this is the first time returning to combat in HD2. For the Illusionist, Iron_S1ghts revealed that they are the “strongest unit” as they can “summon pretty much every unit below him, and has a wide range of ‘void magic’ abilities”. Also, when you kill the Illusionist, it “does a quick ritual, and disappears in an explosion”.
We don’t know when these new Cultists will join the battlefield, but it’s possible they might emerge in conjunction with the release on Xbox consoles, August 26th. This is by no means official and is purely speculation.
