Helldivers 2 is arguably the biggest and best game of the year so far. It has absolutely taken the world by storm and it’s continually getting better thanks to continuous updates from Arrowhead. While the PlayStation and PC community adore the game, so does a famous leading actor from Starship Troopers who has said he is open to the idea of playing General Brasch in a Helldivers 2 movie adaptation.
As mentioned, Helldivers 2 has taken over the world of gaming as it is the best selling game of 2024 so far. Fans can check out the most recent update 01.000.301 patch notes to see all of the latest improvements ahead of the new Premium Warbond set to arrive in the second week of May.
The game is absolutely marvellous and it’s no secret that the cult classic Starship Troopers is a big influence. With this in mind, leading actor Casper Van Dien has showered praise on Arrowhead’s multiplayer epic and has said he is open to being a part of the franchise.
Starship Troopers actor loves Helldivers 2
Leading Starship Troopers actor, Casper Van Dien, has reacted to Helldivers 2. This comes courtesy of a video posted by Gamology on YouTube where Casper Van Dien watched gameplay footage and discussed comparisons to the 1997 movie.
In the video, Van Dien praised the game and bestowed it with a perfect 10 out of 10. Reacting to the famous promotional video to recruit players to the battlefield, Casper Van Dien said, “It’s the same as in the movie. It’s so awesome, I love it”.
Further comparisons to Starship Troopers were noted with the actor behind Johnny Rico saying “You can see that this is definitely a huge tribute… look at that uniform, that’s very Starship Troopers-like”.
While praising everything about the game, the only difference Van Dien light-heartedly criticized is the capes. Watching the helldivers in action, Van Dien said “See that cape, it’s cool but… they’re throwing capes in which probably would have gotten on my nerves”.
While praising the gameplay and the war propaganda promotional video cut-scene, Van Dien also acknowledged the similarities between the buggy aliens, weapons, and dropships. He ultimately said “It’s such a tribute to Starship Troopers, it’s really quite wonderful”.
Asked by the Gamology crew if he would consider being in Helldivers 2 or a movie adaptation, Van Dien said it’s a question he gets a lot. He further said “I love the idea of Helldivers 2, I think General Brasch looks great… I don’t know, you never know what could happen. I’m open to see what happens, I already feel like I’m already a part of it”.
He further said “I’m very particular about my Starship, I love being Johnny Rico, but the general looks pretty cool in this one, I’m not gonna lie”. You can check out the full video from Gamology down below:
