Arrowhead Studios is constantly working on new ideas for Helldivers 2, a lot of which ends up getting leaked. A new leak for in-development content for the popular multiplayer game reveals the first Super Earth map for the game, but it’s not the urban environment many have been hoping for.
Helldivers 2 dives to Super Earth
Leaked by ever-active dataminer IronS1ghts, Arrowhead has added Super Earth maps to the game with individual regions not seen in other maps. These new Super Earth maps include four different regions that players will fight Bots, Bugs and maybe even the long-leaked Illuminate in.
These new maps have four rural regions that can be generated don’t include any of the leaked urban assets of a Super Earth city. However, they still offer a brand-new feel that the game’s largely alien, fire tornado-filled planets don’t.

If these maps get added to the game proper, players will be able to fight in the following regions: “Oats, Orchard, Wheat and Corn.” This means that players will likely be able defend the urban infrastructure of Super Earth’s food supply as the galactic war intensifies.
IronS1ghts also explained that “all of the city assets have been taken out of the files” as of the game’s most current build. However, “all terrain generation for ‘roads’ are still there”, adding a strong link between each region.
Will urban maps ever arrive?
While Arrowhead has been working on assets for urban environments, there’s no sign that a full city map could be coming to the game. Despite the studio’s work on urban assets, there is the reality that a sprawling city map with the action-packed gameplay loop of Helldivers 2, calling in a massive 500KG Eagle amidst a cluster of buildings may be too much for the game’s ageing engine.
Nevertheless, the addition of some form of Super Earth map, even if it is rural in nature, is a great add-on to the game. After all, we’re fighting to defend Super Earth, shouldn’t we see some of its colonies?
