It has been a turbulent time in the Helldivers 2 community over the past few days following Sony’s announcement that players would need to connect a PSN account to Steam. This caused a lot of backlash in the community which eventually led to the publisher going back on its plans, but not before Helldivers 2 became the most negatively reviewed paid game in Steam’s history.

During this time, the developers, Arrowhead Game Studios, were on the side of the players and did what they could to make Sony change its mind, while also accepting its share of the responsibility. And now, it looks like the developers will be looking to make it up to the community.

In a post on X, the Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Johan Pilestedt shared an image of a Cape made by a member of the community that features the graph from Steamdb showing the amount of negative reviews that Helldivers 2 received during the PSN controversy.

“The accidental cape design is pretty cool.”

Arrowhead Game Studios did plan on granting players a free cosmetic for linking a PSN account to the game, but it is unclear whether this is still set to go ahead, or whether it will be given to players as an apology. But, if the developers are going to give away a free cosmetic, this would be a perfect one as it fits with the satire and tongue-in-cheek nature of the game.

Now that we can begin to put this debacle behind us, it is time to get back to business and turn our attention to the Terminids as, despite the previous Major Order being a success, they are now a “greater threat than ever before.” To ensure victory against the Terminids, we highly recommend checking out our Helldivers 2 best weapons guide and best armor guide as players will need all of the firepower possible to bring democracy to the galaxy.
