Ever since Helldivers 2 launched, players have been hoping to see a location on the ship to test out new weapons. It looks like there is a lot of unused space on this ship, which could be expanded into new explorable areas over time. This would be a really fun addition to the game and add something fresh to the lobby area of the game. It looks like we’re not the only ones that think this as Arrowhead Game Studios is currently working on this feature.
The Helldivers 2 Community Manager Twinbeard took to the official Discord server to confirm that the developers are working on a mode similar to a test server to allow players to try out new weapons and Stratagems before using them in a mission. When asked about it, Twinbeard replied to the player saying “Yes, there are similar plans. Exactly what, how, and when we don’t know yet, but we’re discussing it.”
Players have been requesting a shooting range on board your ship so you can test out weapons before using them in a mission. This could be similar to the tutorial mission where there is a section that can spawn Automatns or Terminids for you to take out. Having to try out weapons for the first time in missions can be frustrating, especially if they turn out not to be good, or they take some time to figure out. It is great to see that this is an idea that the development team is working on, hopefully, it won’t take too long to implement.
This news comes shortly after the Polar Patriots Warbond was released, which added three new weapons and armor sets, as well as various cosmetics to the game. So far, this Warbond has been largely disappointing and the weakest one we’ve seen so far in the game. But, players will have plenty of opportunity to test out the new weapons in the latest Major Order, which calls for players to kill 2 billion Automatons. With one day left, we are under target and it looks like all hope is lost, but we’ve been in this position before and have been able to claw things back.
