Helldivers 2 has seen a steady flow of updates which has kept players coming back to the game regularly to take on the Terminids and Automatons, as well as helping the game achieve over eight million sales in just two months. But, with the threat of The Illuminate on the horizon, the Helldivers are getting access to even more firepower to eradicate everyone that is a threat to Super Earth.

Arrowhead Game Studios has announced on X that two new weapons have been added to Helldivers 2 as part of the latest update. This has been added as a hotfix and can be used immediately. The two weapons that have been added are the LAS-99 Quasar Cannon and the MG-101 Heavy Machine Gun. A new Machine Gun has been heavily requested by the community so the MG-101 will likely be heavily used over the next few days. When it comes to support weapons, there are many options to choose one, so it will be interesting to see how the LAS-99 holds up.

The X post mentions using the two new weapons against the Automatons, which means that these weapons have been added as a way to encourage players to complete missions on the planets occupied by the robots. Over the past month there has been a huge increase in the Terminids being favored over the Automatons due to the robots having overpowered weapons which can one shot players and even shoot through cover, making the missions unappealing. But with two factions to fight, Arrowhead Game Studios may be looking to add more story elements featuring the robots after the last few Major Orders focused on Terminids.

It is unclear yet how the new LAS-99 and MG-101 will fit into the meta, there are already many great options to use as part of your loadout. To figure out the right choices for you, we highly recommend checking out our Helldivers 2 best weapons guide and best armor guides.
