Fortnite player calculates true value of new Battle Pass

The Fortnite Battle Pass is one of the most valuable microtransactions in live-service gaming. For one small price, players can access over 100 cosmetics, as well as earn enough V-Bucks to purchase the next one, meaning you can pay once and never spend money again and still amass a sizeable locker to choose from.

U/PhantomGanon_42 has taken to Reddit to share their calculations and findings when it comes to the new Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 Battle Pass. Epic Games releases each Battle Pass for 950 V-Bucks, approximately $9.50 USD. With approximately 150 cosmetics to unlock over the course of the season, that seems like a pretty good deal, but now we know just how much value is on offer.

In total, PhantomGanon_42 has calculated that the Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 Battle Pass is valued at approximately $247.31 when each of the cosmetics is valued separately based on rarity and cosmetic type. This is also noting that some cosmetics, such as Emotions and Loading Screens, aren’t made available in the Item Shop so there is no monetary value that can be tied to them.

Epic Games also recently announced that skin styles will be sold separately for future Battle Pass skins when they come to the Item Shop. With this in mind, the total value of the Battle Pass will likely be 3-4x more due to each skin having 4-5 variations that could be sold in the Item Shop.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4 has brought Marvel back to the game, with the likes of Doctor Doom returning to the island. The last Marvel season was back in 2020 during Chapter 2 Season 4. And speaking of Chapter 2, following this season, players will be heading back to the past as Fortnite OG is set to return, this time focusing on Chapter 2 so players can go back to POIs such as The Agency. Then, it is back to the present as players will be jumping into Chapter 6 before the end of 2024.
