If you ask players which Chapter is their favorite you will likely hear one of two answers, Chapter 1 or Chapter 2. Fortnite Chapter 1 is where the game began and made it a global phenomenon which culminated in the Fortnite World Cup that saw Bugha win $3 million in the Summer of 2019. Chapter 2 brought about the biggest change we’d seen in the game so far, a brand new map. This was unthinkable at the time, even though it is expected today with any new Chapter.

Both have their pros and cons. Fortnite Chapter 1 brings so much nostalgia to players and will forever hold a special place in their hearts, while many point to Chapter 2 being when the game found its footing, with quality of life changes such as vehicles, fishing, and swimming before standard in the game. Epic Games wrapped up 2023 with a return to the original Fortnite map, and now it looks like we will be heading back to the Chapter 2 map before the end of 2024.

Fortnite leaker Shiina took to X to reveal that players only have 110 more days before the Chapter 5 map disappears from the game. This will then bring about OG Chapter 2 before launching into Chapter 6 in December. I am just really excited to be able to land at Holly Hedges and Sweaty Sands again.

Players will remember that Chapter 4 wrapped up in November 2023 before Fortnite OG began and lasted for one month before the start of Chapter 5. It looks like Epic Games is following this same trend for Chapter 6 too.

Fortnite Chapter 6 should also mark the final Chapter being developed using Unreal Engine 5, as Epic Games looks to release its first Fortnite season fully developed in UEFN “by the end of 2025, according to its roadmap. UEFN is a version of Unreal Engine created specifically for Fortnite to allow creators to harness the power of Epic Games’ engine while also providing the Fortnite framework to allow for user-generated content to be playable natively inside of Fortnite.

Releasing Fortnite OG Chapter 2 prior to Chapter 6 will be a great move by Epic Games, with it believed to be focusing on Chapter 2 Season 2 which saw characters such as Midas and Brutus first come to the game. Despite Chapter 1’s immense popularity, it was Chapter 2 that saw the game settle into its groove and bring a lot of new players to the game. Fortnite broke its all-time player record during Fortnite OG with over 11 million concurrent players, so it will be interesting to see whether the game can top that once again when Chapter 2 is brought back.

If you enjoyed the original Fortnite map, you can play the new Fortnite Reload mode now, which features a scaled-down version but includes many iconic POIs including Tilted Towers and Pleasant Park. There is also a lot going on in the game over the coming weeks and months, with a Pirates of the Caribbean collaboration beginning later this week. For the rhythm game players, it has been leaked that Karol G and Snoop Dogg will be the featured artists in Festival Seasons 5 and 6 which will take the community through the rest of 2024.
