It's common knowledge that Fortnite is one of the most popular games on the planet right now, but developer Epic Games has now given us an idea of just how popular the battle royale juggernaut is.

Writing in a post on its official website, the former Gears of War studio revealed that Fortnite pulled in a massive 78.3 million players for the month of August 2018. Unsurprisingly, this was the biggest month the shooter has seen to date.

Fortnite's biggest rival is probably PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, a game which usually pulls in a good one million+ players on a daily basis. Things seem to be dying down a bit lately, however.

To be fair, it's not hard to see why Fortnite has remained so popular. The game has a number of celebrity fans (Drake loves it, don'tcha know?) and even football players have performed some of the game's emotes when scoring a goal.

Epic's marketing efforts have also gone that extra step, with everything from the Der Burger logo to llamas turning up in California and London, respectively.

At this point, it really looks like there's no end in sight, which is great news – if you like Fortnite.
