Epic Games and Apple haven’t seen eye to eye with Fortnite on iOS. The two companies had a lengthy battle in the court, which ended with a decisive victory by Apple. Due to this, Fortnite was banned from the App Store, and millions of players lost access to it. However, the popular game is coming back to iPhones soon, but there is a catch.

At the moment, it’s possible to play Fortnite on iOS devices through cloud gaming services. Considering that this results in a higher input lag, it’s certainly not a perfect solution. Fortunately, the return of Fortnite to Apple devices will solve this problem, but only for some users.

When will Fortnite return to iPhone and other iOS devices?

Fortnite hasn’t been available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices for almost four years. Many players lost their access or were forced to play the game through cloud gaming. Fortunately, the popular battle royale title will return to iPhone very soon, possibly at the start of Chapter 5 Season 3. The bad news is that not all iPhone users will be able to play it.

The European Union brought an act to allow sideloading to Apple devices this year. In short, this means that it will soon be possible to install third-party apps on these devices. Due to this, many new stores will come to iOS devices, including the Epic Games Store. This is great news for iOS users who love Fortnite, but only for those who live in the EU.

At the moment, the release date of Fortnite on iPhone is unknown. However, the game may become available at the start of the next season. Furthermore, iPad users will also be able to play the record-breaking game, but this will happen later in the year. It is unlikely that Mac users will be able to play Fortnite natively, although they can access the game through cloud gaming.

There is also no information on what game modes the iPhone version will support. While we know for sure that the Battle Royale mode will be available, it will be interesting to see if new modes, like LEGO Fortnite and Fortnite Festival, will be supported.
