Not every change goes down well in the world of Fortnite. While the old adage ‘you can’t please em all’ is always true, there’s some tweaks that the community seems to universally agree should never have been made.

In a thread entitled ‘I really hope they change it back’ on the Fortnite subreddit, a number of fans have voiced their displeasure at the game’s latest version of the Locker UI following an in-game survey from Epic. Many are clearly not pleased with how the locker UI has changed in Chapter 5 including xthelord2 who says “Locker is absolute garbage and nobody had issues with old one. I swear time spent making locker UI and game mode selection UI could have been used to fix actual problems in the game.”

“The fact that they separated the locker presets makes it worse for me,” adds Silkysocks777. “Some skins also have cool loading screen or lobby tracks to go with them, so I would put that in the preset.” iPsai agrees, saying “It was so fun matching my skin, weapons and loading screen all to my character and being able to random through them or just select them with one press. Now I have to go through multiple screens, and the whole thing just f****d up most of my loadouts so I would need to fix that s***t in the first place. I just stopped changing skins since the update and I don’t even look at the shop because I don’t care man.”

Many are also incredulous that the change – which first came into effect at the start of Chapter 5 Season 1- hasn’t been reverted yet despite two months passing. “I still can’t believe that they changed it and have not reverted at this point,” says OneBillPhil. “Changing my loadout is a total chore, it’s actually worse than it was before there were presets in Chapter 2.” “Way too confusing” is the simple verdict offered by BloodMoon_psy666.

There are a few outliers who don’t mind the new locker UI – “It looks good to me,” claims Kimarnic– but as many point out, it may be impossible to change it back to quite the way it was before, given the additions from Lego Fortnite, Fortnite Rocket Racing and Fortnite Festival have now added additional items such as Jam Tracks, Cars and more to players ever bulging inventories. We’ll have to wait and see if Epic make any changes to make the locker experience a little better.
