The latest Fortnite change doesn’t sit well with the community. With the release of the v27.10 update, Epic Games added a new feature for cosmetic items. Unfortunately, the new feature is controversial, as it limits the usage of certain cosmetics in every game mode.

Fortnite players don’t like limits on cosmetics, which makes sense. This was a big problem during the Marvel season back in Chapter 2, but it’s also going to be a problem in the future. The newest Fortnite update comes with cosmetic restrictions, and here’s everything you need to know about it.

The newest Fortnite change forbids you to use certain cosmetic items

Last month, Epic Games implemented IARC age ratings to Fortnite Creative maps. This is one of the first steps to ensure that the videogame is safe for everyone, including children. Unfortunately, this also means that certain cosmetic items will not be available in all game modes.

Zadie is a great example of this. The Rare Fortnite skin can only be used in experiences rated 12+. Epic also released a free Fortnite skin, along with its accessories. However, the Auto Clutch back bling, which is unlocked after earning 35 Account Levels, has the same limitation as the Zadie outfit.

You will not be able to use cosmetic items in all maps

A small portion of cosmetic items in Fortnite will not be available in all game modes, including some Creative maps.

A controversial change in Fortnite has sparked backlash, with players slamming Epic Games and demanding refunds. However, this fortnite character is still shown on the screen.

The truth is that this Fortnite change won’t affect many players or many cosmetics. Considering that Fortnite itself is rated Teen, most of its content is already rated 12+. However, many players are upset and are already asking Epic Games for refunds.

This move should slightly affect the sales of cosmetic items in Fortnite. Unfortunately, Epic probably had to implement this feature to comply with IARC ratings. Due to this, we can expect more similar changes to come in the future.

It’s important to note that the latest Fortnite change also came with a small modification to the Item Shop. When you attempt to buy cosmetic items that are not compatible with all experiences, you will receive an additional popup and will have to confirm the purchase.
