Epic Games will soon release the first major update of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2. The update will have a build number 29.01 and is expected to arrive on Tuesday, March 19. While Epic hasn’t confirmed the exact release time yet, we expect the downtime to start around 4 AM Eastern Time. If you’re interested in checking what the new Fortnite update will bring, we’ve prepared early patch notes for you.
Before we begin, however, we’d like to let you know that you can get a couple of free Fortnite skins this season. The upcoming Fortnite update will bring Midas back
Midas is one of the most popular characters in Fortnite history, and it’s no surprise that Epic Games will bring him back to the game. He was first available in Chapter 2 Season 2 as a Battle Pass skin but has received many other variants throughout the years. Midas’ return will bring a fan-favorite limited-time game mode, which is something the community is looking forward to.
These are all the things we expect to come with the v29.01 Fortnite update:
- Midas returning to the game
- Floor is Lava LTM returning
- Map changes
- Drum Gun unvaulting
- Chains of Hades Mythic item
- Golden Chickens
- Golden Banana
- New cosmetic items
- New quests
Keep in mind that these are just early patch notes for the upcoming Fortnite update. Epic Games will likely add even more content with it, which we will find out once the patch comes out. It appears that the majority of the update will be about Midas and his return. Due to this, we expect him to be an NPC in the game, and also bring back his iconic weapon, the Drum Gun.
Fortnite leakers showed a lot of other interesting things that Epic has been working on, including Golden Chicks and a new banana item. Furthermore, Chains of Hades is a new Mythic item that was removed on the first day of the season, and it won’t be surprising if it returns with the v29.01 update.
Since this will be a major update, Fortnite servers will go down for at least an hour.
