A new gameplay trailer for fantasy action adventure Forspoken dropped during the PlayStation State of Play broadcast last night.

The footage gives us a better idea of the gameplay, and the newfound magical abilities wielded by protagonist Frey. There’s definitely something of an Infamous/Prototype feeling to things, with our hero dashing & soaring through the game’s world of Athia.

There’s an elemental touch to some of these powers too, including a surfboard made of water and a sword made of fire. The trailer also shows off a good chunk of magical combat, with Frey taking on dragons & demons alike. A bit of crowd control by summoning a magical lava fissure? She’s got you covered. Other abilities shown in the trailer include Storm Dart, which Frey can use to take on baddies from afar. Then there’s the Eagre move, which lets our hero command barriers of water.

The trailer comes just a couple of days removed from the announcement we’ll be waiting a little longer to get our hands on Forspoken. Developer Luminous Productions announced on Monday it’ll no longer launch in May to give the team more time for polish.

Instead then, we can expect Forspoken to arrive on PlayStation 5 and PC on October 11, 2022.
