Square Enix has announced that it has delayed the release of Forspoken, its upcoming action-adventure fantasy for PS5, into 2023.
The game was originally scheduled to launch in May 2022. But, back in March Square Enix pushed the game’s release back to October. Now, alas, we will have to wait even longer to play this strange-looking game. The new release date is January 24th, 2023.
In a statement, a Square Enix spokesman said:
“As a result of ongoing discussions with key partners, we have made the strategic decision to move the launch date of Forspoken to January 24, 2023. All game elements are now complete, and development is in its final polishing phase. We would like to thank you for your continued support and patience on this journey. Your excitement for the game inspires us every day and we cannot wait to share more about Forspoken with you later this summer!”
In other recent Forspoken news, got ten minutes of gameplay footage back in March, courtesy of Game Informer. And, in May, we found out that the game is going to be rated as a PEGI 18. This is, apparently down to its depiction of alcohol use, its realistic violence, and some of its darker themes.
As it currently stands, then, the game will be out on January 24th, 2023, on PlayStation 5 and PC.
