Square Enix has given us a new look at Forspoken, a fantasy-flavoured action-adventure, coming to PlayStation 5 in Spring, 2022.

Forspoken—which was until March called “Project Athia”—is about a woman who zaps into a fantasy world. Once there, she has superpowers, courtesy of… some bracelets that she is wearing?

According to a post on the PlayStation Blog, Frey is a directionless, gritty yet street smart young woman.”

Check out the trailer:

The description reads:

“Mysteriously transported from New York City, Frey Holland finds herself trapped in the beautiful and cruel land of Athia with a magical, sentient bracelet wrapped around her arm. Her new, cynical companion “Cuff” helps Frey navigate through the sprawling landscapes of Athia.”

Apparently, in search of a way back home (and to her cat), Frey will have to battle a being called Tantas. Tantas seems to be a queenly figure, sitting on a throne, with a odd helmet—think silver dinner plate + bucket.

Also worthy of note is that Frey seems to be able to fly and, as she remarks, “move s*** with my freaking mind.” As for Athia itself, it looks as if Forspoken might be an open-world game, but we will have to wait and see.
