Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has been anticipated ever since we escaped the sci-fi dystopian nightmare, Midgar, in part 1 of the FF7 Remake trilogy. It’s been a gruelling wait, but the agony is almost over with the game set to launch in just a couple of days. Here you will find the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth release date and time countdown for PT, ET, and UK GMT so you know exactly when it will come out to play as soon as possible.

This is a sequel to the FF7 Remake no matter how much Square Enix says you don’t have played the 2020 release. It is the second installment in the remake trilogy that we imagine will probably end around 2028. It follows straight on from the first installment’s ending where Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Barrett, and Red XII escaped Midgar.

The review embargo for the game ended last week and it has become one of the highest-rated PS5 console exclusives on Metacritic with an overall score of 92. Not only is it one of the highest-rated PS5 exclusives of all time, it’s the highest-rated Final Fantasy. If you cannot wait to step into the heavy merc boots of Cloud once again, then you’ll be happy to hear that the release date and time countdown is almost over.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth release date

The release date for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is February 29th. Unfortunately, unlike part 1 of the FF7 Remake trilogy, it is not available on PS4. At launch, it is exclusive to PS5 consoles thanks to the upgrades in visual fidelity and software.

In addition to launching only on the PS5 for PlayStation consoles, it is also not launching on PC for either Epic Games or Steam. Square Enix is yet to comment on a PC release, The game is said to be a PS5 console exclusive until May 29th, so there’s a chance it could come on PC before 2024 ends.

The FF7 Remake originally launched on PS4 in April 2020 and it then joined the Epic Games store in December 2021. After that, it joined Steam in June 2022. It’s possible we could see a similar timeframe for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on PC, but hopefully, it will come out before the end of 2024 instead.

Alongside not launching on PC, the game is also not on Xbox. This isn’t surprising, but the bad news is that it may never come to Xbox consoles. This is because Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith’s first outing still hasn’t gotten into bed with Microsoft almost four years later.

When does Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth come out?

The release date and time countdown for when Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will come out is 9 PM PT on February 28th, and 12 AM ET/ 12 AM GMT on February 29th. These launch hours come courtesy of the countdown on the PSN store, and it’s also typical of PlayStation console exclusives as they almost always launch at local midnight.

If you cannot wait until tomorrow to begin playing, we highly recommend you download the FF7 Rebirth demo. Even if you wish to go in completely blind and already know you’re going to buy the game, we recommend downloading it for the addictive piano mini-game alone.

It’s also worth downloading the demo so you can carry over progress and rewards to the full game. This is a very simple process, and Square Enix also says there is content unique to the demo that you won’t find in the full experience.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth release date and time countdown

Below is our countdown to the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth release date and launch time:

FF7 Rebirth pre-order bonuses

If you pre-order a digital edition of the game from the PSN store, you can preload the massive download size ahead of launch right now. This will allow you to begin playing the second the game launches in your region.

Below are the price and pre-order bonuses for every edition of the game:

Standard edition – £69.99:

  • Summoning Materia: Moogle Trio (pre-order bonus)

Digital Deluxe edition – £84.99:

  • Summoning Materia: Moogle Trio (pre-order bonus)
  • Digital mini soundtrack
  • Digital Art Book
  • Magic Pot Summoning Materia
  • Accessory: Reclaimant Choker
  • Armor: Orchid Bracelet

Digital Deluxe edition Twin Pack – £84.99:

  • Summoning Materia: Moogle Trio (pre-order bonus)
  • FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE
  • Digital mini soundtrack
  • Digital Art Book
  • Magic Pot Summoning Materia

If you never played FF7 Remake or if you didn’t upgrade to Intergrade, we definitely recommend buying the Twin Pack seeing as it’s the same cost as the Deluxe edition. If you did upgrade to Intergrade, then it’s up to you to decide whether the Deluxe bonuses are worth the extra price or not. Also, if you buy a physical copy of the game instead, you will be greeted by two discs.

In other PlayStation news, Sony will soon pull the curtain aside on the PS Plus March 2024 games. The release date for Sea of Thieves on PS5 has been confirmed, and the release date for Hi-Fi Rush on PS5 has been revealed, too.
