The release of the Final Fantasy 16 demo quickly silenced any doubters and made the upcoming action RPG entry even more of a hit with the gaming community. Unfortunately, a few FPS hiccups towards the beginning of the story did somewhat put a damper on some players’ experiences as many started fearing that it would carry over to the game’s actual launch.

However, an eagle-eyed fan recently discovered that the demo is running on an old 1.01 build so the graphical problems in question may no longer be an issue. According to a Twitter post by a user named chong, the trailer that was exhibited during the April 2023 Final Fantasy 16 State of Play showed that the game was already on version 1.03, which meant that it had already undergone several changes by that point.

It’s currently unclear, though, what specific updates Square Enix have made after the initial build. But since the developers previously stated that they won’t need a day one patch at launch, they must already be confident of the final product they can provide to their loyal community. With this in mind, the glaring FPS drops you underwent in the demo may not be something you need to worry about at this point in time.

Now that you know what the cause of the demo issues are, you’ll only need to wait a few more days until the Final Fantasy 16 release date rolls around. Alas, the latest series installment currently has an exclusivity deal in place with PlayStation, meaning you’ll only be able to play the game on the PS5. If you’re looking to play it on other platforms, then you’ll have to wait for at least a year as the agreement between Sony and Square Enix is set to last for at least a year.
