You need to learn this FC 24 new dribbling technique. Defending in the new game is already a challenge, but if you can master the new dribbling system, your opponent won’t stand a chance.

We have already put in hours on the game, helping to form our FC 24 review. The early meta is starting to show, and you can check out the FC 24 best meta players all in one place.

For now though, it is worth understanding and then practicing this revolutionary new dribbling system.

How to do Controlled Sprint in FC 24

There are actually two unique dribbling techniques to make use of in FC 24. These are the Controlled Sprint and the Effort Dribble Touch.

The main difference between the Controlled Sprint and regular Sprint is the volume of touches taken by your player. While the overall pace is slightly slower, your player takes far more touches, making them much more agile, therefore harder to tackle.

To perform the Controlled Sprint, all you need to do is hold RB (Xbox) or R1 (PlayStation).

Players with higher pace and dribbling attributes will understandably have a higher Controlled Sprint speed. THE GUIDE’s dribbling tutorial advises using this technique in midfield, helping you drive forward and put your opponent under pressure without letting them make a tackle.

You are also able to use Controlled Sprint to slow your player down. If you have been flat out and are now heading into traffic, using RB / R1 is like applying the brakes and will help you slalom your way through with ease.

How to do Effort Dribble Touch in FC 24

Moving on to the Effort Dribble Touch. This is the best and fastest way for your player to touch the ball, and therefore change direction.

To perform the Effort Dribble Touch, hold RB (Xbox) or R1 (PlayStation) and flick the right analog stick.

Be warned, if you use this while flat out sprinting, the touch will be a lot further from your player than you might want.

The new mechanic is especially effective in and around the box. Your players can get to the ball ahead of a defender, creating space for a shot, or drawing a foul.

It is also excellent for receiving the ball. Players can use this technique to control the first touch of a player, bursting away from an opponent in the process.

Combining the two techniques is almost impossible to stop. The defender may struggle to be dealing with the Controlled Sprint already. But, with a sudden change of movement you will be long gone.
