Last night’s Capcom Showcase has given us a closer look at upcoming dinosaurs-versus-mechs game, Exoprimal.

The latest trailer introduces us to Leviathan. This slightly sinister AI will direct you to the hordes of dinosaurs invading, and set your mission goals and objectives. However, Leviathan isn’t strictly on your side, as he’s also pitting the Exofighters against one another to collect all important data. This will make up the crux of the game’s main mode – Dino Survival.

See, Dino Survival will see the AI put you and your squad in a map filled with dinosaurs and other Exofighter squads. Leviathian will then set you missions, such as Dinosaur Cull, Omega Charge or Energy Taker each with their own objectives. These can range from killing all dinosaurs to collecting energy drops across the map. You’ll have to beat these objectives while both competing with and against another squad to be the best and survive the encounters.

Capcom’s also given us details on a closed network test for the game to take place via Steam this summer. There’ll be three sessions, with one on July 11 for US and Canada only. The following two, however, will take place on July 25 and August 7 and will be open to everyone worldwide. You’ll need Steam to play, and you can sign up and get full details over here.

Exoprimal was first revealed during the PlayStation State of Play back in March. It is, alas, not a new Dino Crisis, but seems to have more in common with the Earth Defence Force series, only switching out the giant bugs for dinosaurs. You can check out the new trailer for yourself down below. The game is set to arrive on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC in 2023.
