Those hunting for Diablo 4’s rarest items can exhale in the knowledge that they do indeed exist, although the last one appears to be a bit of a let down.

Two separate posts went live recently on the Diablo 4 subreddit, each claiming to have found the Melted Heart of Selig, one of five items previously revealed to be among the rarest in the game to obtain. One of these was a player in China who’s name we don’t know, but the evidence of their feat was submitted by AnyComputer. The second was a German player by the name of Chabbaworkie who claimed they’d gotten it two days earlier, but had no idea of its rarity until Blizzard’s Adam Jackson revealed the rarity of these items last week.

However, of the items this one appears to be the least exciting one, as it’s an amulet that offers an all-round buff to your stats, but there’s currently a big debate in the Diablo community whether its unique ability is a help or a hinderance to the player who picks it up. To put it simply, the amulet boosts your maximum Resource (which depends on your class, so mana for Sorcerer, etc.) by 30, but any damage taken is drained from that pool instead of your health. While on paper that sounds great, many players aren’t pleased with how quickly this can leave them defenceless in a sticky situation.

As Rhymfaxe explains, the main issue is if the Aspect score of the item is rolled too high. “Lower is better. It seems that with 7 his resource will be empty as soon as he takes 13% damage. I’m actually struggling to imagine a build that would actually use it and why it’s supposedly good, not just rare. I have played energy shield builds before in other games but I just can’t see it in D4. Best case, you run a no-resource build and get some extra “health” I guess.”

Some disagree though, offering suggestions of builds that will still work well with this amulet such as due_the_drew’s suggestion. “It’s really good for the storm wolf druid build that doesn’t use any core skills. It’s all free HP.” Bonesnaps disagrees though “I probably wouldn’t even use this on stormwolf or any druid build tbh. Losing resource when taking dmg isn’t worth 30% max bonus, especially when considering you have to give up an alternate legendary/unique fix in the process.”

It looks like the debate may continue for some time. Now they’ve all been found, the Diablo 4 community will be looking to other, more elusive things to hunt down, such as the fabled Cow Level. Of course, Blizzard could add some more unique items in time for the Diablo 4 Season 1 start date, which we should hear about later this week.
