Diablo 4 couch co-op bug continues to be ignored despite being an issue since the beta

Since launch, Diablo 4 has had its fair share of in-game snags, most of which, to Blizzard’s credit, have been addressed within a week or two. But despite the dev team’s proactiveness in handling ongoing issues, one rampant problem still hasn’t been resolved (or even acknowledged) to this day: the game-breaking couch co-op bug for Diablo 4 console players.

For those lucky enough not to have experienced this issue, here’s how it works. According to Reddit user thebestthingsinlife2, whenever two players start a couch co-op session, any attack speed bonus you earn from consumables or otherwise isn’t applied to your character. “You will be capped at 100%, and no amount of attack speed you stack on your character will make any difference,” they added in their post. You probably already see how big of an issue this is since the best Rogue build and best Barbarian build in Diablo 4 utilize a high attack speed stat to demolish mobs.

Now, if this were a recently discovered bug, Blizzard might be forgiven for having overlooked it until now. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case because this has been an issue since beta. Yes, that beta, the one that took place in March 2023. The dev team also hasn’t acknowledged it until now, making things even murkier for those who often host a Diablo 4 couch co-op session with their friends or family.

Of course, since this is a relatively isolated issue only affecting couch co-op on consoles, Blizzard may have decided to place it on the back burner to focus on more pressing matters. But the myriad complaints that have peppered the game’s forums should have at least prompted a statement from D4’s typically communicative dev team.

With the number of criticisms starting to mount, though, it may not be long before Blizzard addresses this issue for good. Although with the Diablo 4 Season 5 start time and the Vessel of Hatred DLC release date approaching, you may have to remain patient for a good while before the fix arrives.
