It doesn’t matter if you have the best graphics card for the game, as the Diablo 4 Beta is reportedly frying people’s graphics cards, according to this Reddit thread.

The current gaming and tech world has recently been rocked by the announcement of Counter Strike 2 and the recent hack on Linus Tech Tips account. However, some gamers haven’t been able to lift their heads following recent reports of incidents with the game bricking people’s RTX 3080 Tis.

Formerly one of the best graphics cards for ray tracing and more, the RTX 3080 Ti faced huge shortages upon its release. Those who were lucky enough to snag one before might now be furious after bricking it playing Diablo 4. The launch of the closed beta last weekend was hampered by server problems due to the huge demand, though despite only being online for short periods of times, some gamers have reported their GPUs no longer working.

According to Tom’s Hardware, the RTX 3080 Ti is the most commonly reported GPU to face death in the face of Lilith, though regular 3080s and RX 6900 XTs have been affected too.

This isn’t a wide-spread problem, with PCWorld reporting on or around 20 incidences of the sort. We’re going to be looking forward to seeing how this affects the player-base of the Open Beta, which launches tomorrow.

The only solution at this stage is to switch out your GPU or rely on integrated graphics – which isn’t hopeful at all. We’re sure that in the near future Blizzard, Nvidia, and AMD will release patches that prevent this issue from happening, though our advice to anyone with an RTX 3080 Ti, 3080, or RX 6800 XT, to avoid the open beta.
