Death Stranding 2 is now out for everyone on PS5! The game is an absolute marvel, and it’s another masterpiece added to Hideo Kojima’s already stellar portfolio. In wake of the game’s full launch, the director has thanked Death Stranding 2 players in a heartfelt message, revealing “there were moments when I truly felt we may never finish this game”.

Death Stranding 2 launched for everyone on June 26th for PS5. Early access came out on June 24th, but now all porters can traverse the game’s stunning, but challenging, open-world locations.
Following the game’s launch, Hideo Kojima thanked players for the “overwhelming” response. The director posted on X, “DEATH STRANDING 2 is out now! It’s raining today — maybe because I regard myself as the “Rain guy”, I guess. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy the game. During the pandemic, there were moments when I truly felt like we might never finish this game… To have made it to this day is overwhelming. Thank you all so much!”
Kojima has previously shared that DS2 would’ve been finished years ago if not for covid, so the pandemic did cause a lot of struggles with development. Fortunately, Kojima Productions were able to finish the game, and all the hard work and effort has resulted in an absolute masterpiece and one of the best games of 2025 so far alongside other spellbinding experiences such as Clair Obscur Expedition 33, Blue Prince, and Split Fiction.
While Kojima Productions is taking a well-deserved rest, Hideo Kojima has revealed that he is already working on his next game. As for whether we will ever get a Death Stranding 3, Kojima said he has a great idea for it, but someone else will need to make it.
