One of the best aspects of Dead By Daylight is undoubtedly its collaborations with famous horror IPs. In the past we’ve had Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and more recently BeHaviour has been thinking outside of the box with Dungeons and Dragons and CastleVania. Fans have a massive wishlist of dream collaborations, and the DBD director has now said the “door is wide open” for a Friday the 13th Chapter with Jason as a killer.

In addition, Tome 21 Dominus is coming out tomorrow, and the October roadmap reveals all of the upcoming skin collections as well as the start date for this year’s Haunted By Daylight.

As for upcoming chapters, the original killer for Chapter 34 has leaked, meanwhile, the licensed killer for March has been teased as “out of the box” and possibly controversial. Many Dead By Daylight fans would love the March killer to be Jason, but, although extremely unlikely, it could happen in the future as the DBD director is open to a Friday the 13th crossover.

Dead By Daylight director discusses Friday the 13th Chapter with Jason killer

Dead By Daylight YouTuber, The King, recently conducted their yearly interview with DBD Game Director and Head of Partnerships at BeHaviour Digital, Mathieu Cote. The interview is an hour-and-a-half long, and it’s worth watching in its entirety as there is a lot of interesting discussion about how licenses are chosen and the struggles that come with such partnerships.

BeHaviour is more than aware of crossovers fans desire the most, and the good news is that we are finally getting FNAF in Year 10. Five Nights At Freddy’s was the most highly-requested collaboration, but Friday the 13th is a close second that is still yet to become a reality.

While it’s not officially happening, the Dead By Daylight game director’s comments are at least a positive sign it could materialize in the future. Asked about the prospect of Jason joining DBD as a killer, Mathieu Cote said, “The day he’s [Jason] ready to come to Dead By Daylight the door is wide open”.

The director also acknowledged it’s “more likely” to happen now than in the past, and he made it clear that he would want Jason to be a killer rather than just a skin for The Trapper. As for what could be done with Jason as a killer, Cote didn’t mention any specific ideas, but he compared the possibilities to Michael Myers.

Cote said, “He’s [Jason] not just a guy with a machete, he does really interesting things and I think if you look at… Michael Myers, that is not just a guy with a knife. The way his power builds, the way you end up interacting with Michael Myers in the game, it really builds tension in a way that is unique, but is extremely nicely representative of the original nightmare that is this character. And think that it would be silly to believe that the team who put this together wouldn’t do something similar if we were to bring in someone like Jason”.

While the director’s comments are an encouraging the sign, the official JasonUniverse X account has also responded to fans pleading for Jason to join DBD. Although it doesn’t mean the dream chapter will definitely happen, it’s another positive sign that it’s not impossible.

As for other crossovers, fans believe the licensed killer in March will be Kayako from The Grudge. In addition, the developer of Outlast Trials has said they would love a crossover with Dead By Daylight.
