DMZ is the latest mode in Warzone 2 where your main tasks will be to loot, survive, and successfully extract yourself from the map. Though much of its gameplay is similar to titles such as Escape from Tarkov, it still retains plenty of familiar CoD features that players know and love.

This new extraction match type is typically meant to be played in teams of three. However, there are also plenty of operators that want to experience the adrenaline-filled environment by themselves. With this in mind, players often ask whether you can play solo in Warzone 2’s DMZ mode. Here’s what we know.
Can you play Solo in DMZ?
You’ll be able to play solo in a DMZ match but you’ll have to turn off Squad Fill to do so. Once you’re at the Warzone 2 DMZ main menu, there will be an option beside the Faction Missions icon which you can use to toggle Squad Fill. Once you’ve turned this off, you’ll immediately be deployed into the map by yourself.

You’ll need to be careful, though, because every player in the server will very likely be part of a group. You’ll be encountering both opposing operators and enemy AIs throughout the map so being cautious is paramount if you want to exfil successfully.
Having said that, if you still want to attempt a solo DMZ run then here are some tips that can hopefully help you during your excursion.
How to Survive Solo in DMZ?
Sprint Less, Walk More
This can be a tough task because players are frequently used to sprinting everywhere in any CoD game mode. In DMZ, however, detectable foot steps can be the difference between successful extraction and death.
Avoid Bringing Contraband Weapons on your First Run
DMZ gives every new player a few Contraband Weapons to start them off in the game. If you aren’t familiar with the term, these are the weapons that you lose if you die during the match.
We recommend only bringing in your Insured Weapon at first so you can get a feel for the map. You can always pick up additional firearms as you progress throughout different areas.

Pick Your Fights
It’s you against the world. Both AIs and enemies are in groups so you’ll immediately be at a disadvantage if you were to engage in a gun fight. If it can’t be helped, you can always try to use your surroundings to pick them off one by one. Just try not to jump head on into a band of operators that want to get their hands on your loot.
Don’t Stay Near the Extraction Zone
Once you’ve arrived at an exfil area, you can call in the helicopter. Afterwards, immediately head to the nearest building you can find where you’ll have to wait until it arrives. While it’s on its way, however, every other operator in the vicinity will be making their way to that point.
Since you’re by yourself and because the exfil zone is in the open, you’ll be extremely vulnerable if you were to stay near the area. Heading into a structure allows you to pick off opponents until you’re comfortable enough to sprint to the helicopter.
