Can Monster Hunter Rise be played solo?

Yes, you can play solo through Village Quests and Hub Quests if you choose to do so. Village Quests, also known as the main story missions, were fully designed as a single-player experience, which means you’ll have to complete the base game by yourself. Hub Quests, which are the online multiplayer missions, are much more difficult than normal and often requires teams of hunters in order to finish them.

It’s worth noting though that the health of the monsters you hunt in Hub Quests scales depending on the number of party members you have. So if you decide to participate in a Hub Quest by yourself, the beasts you encounter within the map will be given the lowest amount of health possible.

You’ll still be able to rely on the services of your Palico and Palamute whenever you’re hunting alone. However, their relatively low health and weak defenses means that they can easily be downed by monsters, especially those found in higher ranked missions.
