The Sword and Shield in particular is a beginner friendly one since it has good all-around stats and allows you to protect yourself easily, all while getting in hits on your target. Once you’ve gotten used to their mechanics, trying and mastering the lower tier weapons will be a breeze.

Without further ado, here is our MH Rise Full Weapon Tier List:

S-Tier

These weapons are the cream of the crop and wielding them makes hunting down monsters much easier. Once you get used to them, they wield tremendous power that can help you in taking down even the most dangerous beasts. Keep in mind, though, that some of these are incredibly difficult to master so beginners may have trouble in handling them.

  • Long Sword
  • Great Sword
  • Switch Axe
  • Charge Blade

A-Tier

Great weapons that give you an edge in battle, but can also hinder you due to some of their flaws. These aren’t a huge step down from S-tier weapons and some of them are even easier to master than those in the upper rank.

  • Sword & Shield
  • Hammer
  • Dual Blades
  • Light Bowgun
  • Gunlance
  • Hunting Horn
  • Bow

B-Tier

Decent, serviceable weapons whose weaknesses often outweigh their strengths. These can definitely still be used when in the right hands, but with so many other weapons to choose from, these are often passed over for the more imposing ones.

  • Lance
  • Insect Glaive
  • Heavy Bowgun

As always, these tiers are purely subjective and the best weapons in Monster Hunter Rise can vary from person to person. Based on our experience, however, these are the rankings that we have come up with, but we recommend trying them all out at least a few times in order to determine which one suits you best.
