NOW READ: Is Monster Hunter Rise Good for Beginners?

Some, however, are still skeptical because of the notoriety of previous titles. Most players who were introduced to earlier entries in the Monster Hunter franchise unfortunately became disinterested due to the amount of instructions presented and the overall learning curve. Luckily, we’re here to help you this time around by presenting you with a few tips to start your journey off on the right foot.

5 things you should know before starting Monster Hunter Rise

1. Bigger Weapons Aren’t Always Better

Monster Hunter Rise presents players with a wide array of deadly weapons that they can use to hunt creatures. Most of the powerful ones are often those that are heavy and are twice the size of normal weapons. As a beginner, however, using these types of weapons can be difficult because of the learning curve it takes to master them.

Some of the smaller, less glamorous ones, like the Sword & Shield and the Dual Blades, can be equally as strong when in the right hands. They are also relatively easier to use since their light weight allows you to maneuver around enemies easier. Once you’ve mastered these modest weapons, though, you will surely have an easier time mastering their much larger counterparts.

2. Complete Your Training Missions First

It’s always tempting to skip training entirely in order to get to the more exciting parts of the game, such as its multiplayer aspect. However, we recommend completing your tutorial missions all the way through in Monster Hunter Rise because there will be some things that you’ll only be able to learn through them.

A few important lessons that you’ll be taught during these training missions include wyvern riding, capturing monsters, playing through Rampage quests, and the overall mechanics of the game.

3. Sometimes Capturing Is Better Than Killing

We understand that killing huge beasts can be fun and that people can get trigger happy sometimes, but learning how to capture monsters is one of the most important skills in MH Rise. As previously mentioned, you’ll be able to learn how to capture monsters through your training missions. Capturing them not only reduces the time it takes to hunt but can also provide unique and rare crafting resources that you wouldn’t be able to get otherwise.

4. Have A Bite To Eat Before You Hunt

During a hunt, your stamina bar can either be your best friend or your worst enemy. So in order to avoid your stamina gauge from quickly depleting, you should always eat before you head out for a quest. Luckily, you can simply visit the Tea Shop in Kamura Village where you can then eat some delicious Dango. This will grant a boost to your health and stamina bars, which will help tremendously for when you’re finally out in the field.

5. Improve Your Gear Whenever You Can

Finishing a hunt frequently gives you new resources that you can then turn into greater pieces of armor. It’s always important to keep enhancing your equipment because the monsters you hunt will similarly be getting stronger as you progress through the game. Fortunately, Kamura Village has a master of crafting in Hamon the Blacksmith who can help you in making and upgrading your gear.
