Call of Duty has often implemented mechanics that frustrate players instead of helping them with their grind to the top level. As players load into Black Ops 6 for the first time, working towards Mastery Camos previously needed players to reach a specific weapon level, taking hours to even unlock the challenge.

So you can start earning unique weapon camouflages as soon as possible, Treyarch has removed one frustrating mechanic to make the road to Dark Matter smoother than it’s ever been.

Call of Duty camo grinding is even easier

In a Call of Duty blog post, Treyarch reveals you no longer need to rank up the extensive arsenal of weapons to start earning patterns for your favourite guns. Instead, the challenges are available immediately after you’ve managed to unlock a weapon at the very first level.

With no barriers to earning the high-end designs, the Black Ops 6 camo grind has become a much easier process for players wanting to begin completing challenges at the earliest possible moment. To top it off, the unlock process has been streamlined, which is great news if you’re not a fan of having to score longshots with a shotgun.

Treyarch says the Black Ops 6 camo challenges have been “inspired by headshot-based challenges in past Black Ops games” in addition to integrating it with the “modern camo systems” from more recent releases. As a result, newcomers and seasoned veterans are happy all ways round.

The camo grind has been a staple of the Call of Duty franchise since 2007. With Treyarch listening to player feedback, the creation of a camo unlock system to suit all players is certainly a step in the right direction.

How to earn camos in Black Ops 6

Earning camos in Black Ops 6 is a really easy process. The first set of challenges requires you score a specified number of headshots with any weapon to unlock the next tier of camos. This tier involves challenges specific to that weapon category. For example, the Special camo challenges for the XM4 assault rifle involve scoring kills without taking damage and shortly after sprinting. Once these are complete, you can start working towards Gold, Diamond, Dark Spire, and the coveted Dark Matter camo.
