Infinity Ward and Activision have formally revealed the logo and title of this year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

The series official Twitter account revealed the new branding for the sequel to 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare last night. The logo is somewhat reminiscent of that of 2011’s Modern Warfare 3, with a green hue to mark the numeration and the font. Of course, it also shares the name of the 2009 entry, making searches a little more confusing.

We’re promised a ‘new era’ of Call of Duty, but IW isn’t revealing much more just yet. The reveal comes following a tease earlier in the week that saw Infinity Ward “black out” their social media accounts. Internet sleuths however managed to lighten the images and find what could be the return of fan favourite character Ghost.

This year’s entry being a sequel to Modern Warfare was first confirmed back in February. It’ll also launch alongside a “new experience” of free-to-play offering Call of Duty Warzone. Both games are said to be using a brand new engine, built “from the ground up”. Developers Infinity Ward are leading the charge on this one.

The current understanding is that insiders and influencers could be getting their first taste of the game as soon as this weekend. Presumably then, a full Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 reveal won’t be far behind? Stay tuned to find out.
