The Call of Duty franchise is continuing to join forces with other notable names from the world of gaming, television, and movies. In recent years, the shooter series has teamed up with the likes of WWE, Fallout, and Squid Game to launch limited-time events across multiplayer and Warzone. However, while the aforementioned Squid Game crossover added a new “Dead Light, Green Light” mode to Zombies, most crossovers leave the mode alone.
However, modders do what Activision won’t, and the extremely talented CoD community are bringing their own crossovers to Call of Duty Zombies.
Call of Duty Minecraft mod injects new life into Zombies
Released by map modder Resxt, a Zombies map inspired by Minecraft is the perfect reason why Call of Duty’s co-op mode should feature in the crossovers.
The map itself features a fully functioning crafting system, allowing players to make all kinds of items designed to give them the upper hand against the undead, which have also undergone a Minecraft-themed makeover. There are even mini-games and a main Easter Egg quest to complete.
Alongside numerous features you’d find within the iconic sandbox game, the mod contains all the Call of Duty Zombies elements you know and love. There’s a vast arsenal of weaponry, Perk-a-Cola machines, and the Mystery Box complete with Wonder Weapons.
Should Call of Duty Zombies get crossovers?
With Call of Duty now under the Microsoft umbrella, it’s the ideal time for Activision to extend its collaborations with other franchises to its Zombies mode. Brand-new battlegrounds or a new aesthetic for existing maps inspired by other Microsoft-owned games would make for an excellent addition alongside the originals.
Alongside Minecraft, the possibilities for potential zombie crossovers are seemingly endless. Imagine maps inspired by The Elder Scrolls or Halo making their way to Zombies in addition to tried and tested event formulas for multiplayer and battle royale modes.
