Black Ops 6 is introducing several novel features at launch, and one of its biggest new mechanics is a little thing called Omnimovement. For those unfamiliar, Omnimovement is exactly what its name implies: you can sprint, slide, and dive in any direction you want. Yes, this means you can go all John Wick on the enemy team since you’ll be able to jump through the air while firing your weapon. Of course, it’s not like you have much of a choice. After all, the game won’t let you toggle Omnimovement off.

That’s according to the latest CoD podcast episode, wherein Stephanie Snowden, senior director of studio communications at Activision, stated, “Omnimovement is a core foundational mechanic of the game; you cannot turn it off.” Matt Scronce, associate director of design at Treyarch, later added, “It’s across the entire game, [in] Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies,” meaning you’ll have to adapt to the new movement mechanics no matter what mode you’re playing.

One feature you can turn on and off, though, is Intelligent Movement. According to Scronce, once you start Black Ops 6, Intelligent Movement will be turned off by default. However, the game will have an onboarding process for it as you’re starting, and you will eventually be able to customize it based on your preferences. “The goal, really, is to reduce button or key presses,” Scronce added, which is crucial, especially for those who prefer having sprint assist, mantle assist, and crouch assist toggled on.

In addition to BO6’s movement mechanics, they also revealed that “traditional score streaks are back.” This means that, unlike in Cold War, your score streak will reset on death because they wanted “to avoid score streak spam.” Of course, that could always change ahead of launch, especially with the Black Ops 6 beta taking place soon. But for now, you should expect a drastically different final product compared to its predecessors.
