The Black Ops 6 showcase ended with a bang, as Activision and Treyarch have announced the return of a round-based Zombies mode. According to associate director Kevin Drew, there will also be two brand new maps available at launch. Plus, a cooperative horde mode will be included, which means you can finally scratch that massive zombie-slaying itch you’ve had since the undead were first introduced to the series.

According to CoD content creator NoahJ, the two new round-based maps will apparently feature a crew of four you can choose from. So, if you’ve played Left 4 Dead at any point in the past, you may already be familiar with how its potential gameplay would work.

It’s also worth noting that you can still play as any other Operator of your choice. However, selecting one of the default characters will reportedly “allow you to hear story-specific quotes” that pushes the plot forward. As always, though, you’ll need to take these details with a grain of salt since it hasn’t been confirmed by the developers yet.

Alas, with all the new Black Ops 6 Zombies modes arriving, the Warzone-like open-world offering from Modern Warfare 3 won’t be coming back. Of course, you’ll still be able to play it on MW3, but it likely won’t be the same since most players would undoubtedly prefer the classic feel of Treyarch’s round-based Zombies. Plus, since Treyarch is the main developer for Black Ops 6, they’ll be focusing all of their attention on improving the upcoming entry, so updates, if any, for MW3 will be few and far between.

Treyarch will be providing more intel as we get closer to the Black Ops 6 release date. For now, you can check out more details via the official trailer and through Activision’s extensive blog post.
