Amazon Studios continues to build up their slate of high profile licensed properties with the news that, following their previous announcement earlier this year that they were developing a live action God of War television series. The series is officially going into pre-production with Rafe Judkins acting as the showrunner for the series’ first season.
Judkins, who is no stranger to either high profile licensed adaptations or Amazon Studios, currently serves as showrunner on Amazon Studios’ first big budget fantasy series, The Wheel of Time, starring Oscar nominee and Emmy winner, Rosamund Pike.
Amazon Studios have also confirmed that Oscar nominated writers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (Children of Men, The Expanse) will be writing and executive producing the series with Judkins.

Yes, Amazon Studios have confirmed that the series will be adapting 2018’s hugely successful and critically acclaimed God of War.
The official synopsis for the game reads:
“Living as a man outside the shadow of the gods, Kratos must adapt to unfamiliar lands, unexpected threats, and a second chance at being a father. Together with his son Atreus, the pair will venture into the brutal Norse wilds and fight to fulfill a deeply personal quest.“
