As is common with online multiplayer titles, XDefiant adopts anti-cheat to ensure that hackers don’t ruin the game. Exploits and unfair play by cheaters can tarnish the gameplay experience for regular players. Here’s what you need to know about the game’s anti-cheat measures.
What anti-cheat does it use?
XDefiant uses BattlEye anti-cheat according to their subreddit FAQ. According to BattlEye, it includes a “fully fledged proactive protection system, fast dynamic and permanent scanning of the player’s system in user and kernel mode.” Its global banning system is account-based and is customized on a per-game basis. This was enabled right from its Server Test session back in April 2024, with its patch notes mentioning “improved anti-cheat protection.”
Players from other Ubisoft games will find this service familiar as it’s already a part of The Crew 2 and Rainbow Six Siege. It was first used in Battlefield Vietnam back in 2004. While adopting an anti-cheat service might cause privacy concerns, these security measures are effective at detecting hackers and aimbots, ensuring a fair battleground free from hacks.
Can you disable anti-cheat?
No, you cannot disable anti-cheat in the game. You won’t be able to enter a match if you uninstall this service. It works with crossplay as well. Trying to tamper with BattlEye anti-cheat can lead to an account being sanctioned and it will be treated as a breach of the game’s Code of Conduct.
