- Yes, the game offers cross-platform support for the PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
With the Ubisoft-developed first-person shooter out now, you might want to fill a lobby with teammates across platforms. While recent titles like Helldivers 2 have ensured that console and PC players can work together, here’s what you need to know about XDefiant’s crossplay support.
Does it have crossplay
Yes, the game does have crossplay functionality enabled, meaning you’ll have the chance to play with your friends on other platforms. Since it’s on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, you can get it on any of them without worrying about being left out. It’s got controller input and keyboard support as well. The open beta supported this feature and we’re glad it’s in the full release. You can invite friends across platforms or join them in-game via the Social tab.
Executive producer Mark Rubin also hinted at the possibility of a console-only crossplay mode arriving post-launch via a post on X (formerly Twitter). Other Ubisoft FPS entries like Rainbow Six Siege have always had cross-platform play functionality so it comes as no surprise that this latest project also has it included. Expect more features like its Ranked Play mode to arrive over time.
Can I turn off crossplay?
Yes, you can switch off crossplay if you want to stick to players on the same platform and avoid cheaters on PC. This might increase the time it takes to get into a match. To turn off crossplay, head to the Account and Network tab in the game’s settings. Here, you’ll be able to find an option to disable this feature. Xbox and PlayStation users can also disable this via their console settings. You’ll have to turn it back on if you want to play with friends on other platforms.
Does it have cross-progression
The Ubisoft title fully supports cross-platform progression as well. You can continue your progress on different consoles. So you’ll be able to get back into the game with your favorite skins (like these Twitch drops) and weapon loadouts. This will eventually include your ranked progress as well, tracked by Rank Points (RP). You will need to log in to your Ubisoft account if you plan on switching systems. And on PC, you can only download the game via the Ubisoft Connect client. In a blog post, Ubisoft has detailed all the items that will be shareable across platforms by default:
