  • Unlock Freyna at Magister Anais by collecting her Enhanced Cells, Stabilizer, Spiral Catalyst, Code, and 400K Gold.

After picking your character from starters Ajax, Lepic, and Viessa, you’ll get to unlock more of them as the game progresses. We recommend working towards getting Freyna in The First Descendant as her poison attacks are lethal against bosses like the Hanged Man. Her damage-over-time effect is also a nice bonus as you clear mobs in missions. Here’s how you can unlock her in the game.

How to get Freyna

Freyna is a powerful poison-type character who can be researched for 400K Gold at Magister Anais at Albion after obtaining her Enhanced Cells, Stabilizer, Spiral Catalyst, and Code. You can also purchase her for Caliber at the store. The 520 Caliber bundle costs $9.99 so you’re better off working towards her research materials. To unlock her for free, you’ll need to get the following resources:

Once you’re done, we’ve got a Freyna build you should try against bosses. Her Venom Trauma and Putrid Venom are great DoT options while Defense Mechanism lets you sustain more damage. Venom Baptism gives her a new weapon that deals poison damage against foes. Her passive skill Contagion Links boosts her toxic attacks based on how many foes she has poisoned.

As you play the campaign, you’ll get an optional quest that tasks you with hunting the research materials needed for this character. While you don’t have to follow it, this is a good way to track what components you need from the Sterile Land and Vespers regions. Read on to learn how these farming missions work.

Freyna Enhanced Cells

This material can be acquired at The Shelter in the Vespers region. This is longer than most missions and is split into multiple parts. First, clear waves of foes and access a terminal. Beat the Elite Storm Warrior that appears and you’ll be pointed to the next objective. After interacting with the power supply box, you’ll need to stay within a circle and take down enemies until a timer ends.

Once this is done, you’ll need to destroy the Vulgus Wavelength Jammer nearby by shooting it. This will summon the Genetically Enhanced Greg Clone, who is fairly simple to beat. Remember to destroy the three orbs floating above him during his immune phase. And finally, you’ll be asked to move to another region to take on Seudo the Dreamer. His long-range water bullets can be a challenge so take cover when needed. Once he’s defeated, you’ll be rewarded with the Enhanced Cells at a 20% drop rate.

Freyna Stabilizer

Acquire this at the Ruins Path in Vespers. All you need to do here is escort a drone as it scans the surrounding area. It needs to drain a bit of your shield to function so have one player stand near it whenever possible. Having more players stand near it doesn’t seem to make it go any faster.

Remember that the drone won’t move if your shield has been depleted so step away from it for a quick recharge. Once you reach the end of the route, you’ll need to defend the drone from enemy waves for two minutes. Doing so ends the mission and rewards you with the Stabilizer at a 20% drop rate.

Freyna Spiral Catalyst

Get this at the Ruins Underground location of Vespers. Note that you only have a 20% chance of getting the Spiral Catalyst this way so expect to grind this mission a couple of times. It’s a fairly simple task that involves clearing enemies until one of them drops a bomb used to take out a generator. Do this twice and clear two generators. This will draw the attention of a boss with long-range attacks.

This boss has two health bars split by an immune phase where you need to take out floating orbs, just like every other miniboss in the game. Once you clear this boss, you’ll complete the mission successfully and get a chance to earn the catalyst. If you don’t get the item, you can retry the mission as the beacon is close to where you encounter the final boss.

Freyna Code

And finally, you can earn the code at the Void Fusion Reactor mission at the Rockfall Zone of Sterile Land. Remember to have Amorphous Material Pattern: Freyna beforehand from the nearby Vulgus Strategic Outpost mission. Unless you’re using Sharen’s stealth ability, you will have to destroy three generators and beat a boss here. Next, clear the Void Fragment at Rockfall Zone with Bunny as it requires an Electric damage skill to start. It consists of three health bars separated by waves of enemies that grant the Void Fragment immunity until they’ve been cleared. Here’s how you unlock Bunny if you haven’t done so. Once that’s done, you can swap to a different character for the reactor mission.

This is a fairly simple mission that just involves beating an Elite enemy with a yellow health bar. Clear this foe and you’ll earn the Reconstructed Device that grants you the code you need. You won’t need a Shape Stabilizer here as you’re still in the early hours of the game. That should give you all the materials you need. Head back to Albion’s west wing to find Magister Anais and start the 16-hour research time. Once that’s done, you’ll be able to give those new poison powers a spin.
